ASUS may have plans to expand its Transformer Prime range, if the latest leak is to be believed.
The image above shows a new, as yet unannounced tablet from ASUS, which has appeared online with the model number ‘TF300T’. The TF series indicates it’s a Transformer tablet, which means this beauty is going to come with a netbook-sized dockable keyboard.
The first Transformer Tab had the model TF101, the Transformer Prime has the model TF201, though the improved Prime which is due this June has a higher model of TF700T – this leads us to believe this tab could be a middle-ground Transformer Prime model.
Unfortunately the only thing we have to go on for this new tablet is an image; no specifications were provided alongside it. From the design alone this device looks promising; with a stunning crimson-coloured rear panel that features a similar ring spun effect to that of the Transformer Prime TF201. Obviously we can’t tell for certain from a picture, but to us this tab looks to be sporting a plastic rear panel. This is key, as the aluminium rear panel on the Transformer Prime has been blamed for blocking out wireless signals, resulting in less than stellar Wi-Fi and GPS quality.
Size-wise this tablet looks to keep the same form factor as its TF201 brethren, so the screen size is likely to be 10.1-inches. Whether it will sport the same fantastic Super IPS panel remains to be seen, though if this tab is aimed at the more price-conscious consumer we expect the screen quality of a slightly lower standard.
We’ll be keeping our eyes on this one, so stay tuned for more on the TF300T.
