Respected paper and online news source The Wall Street Journal has reported that an Apple event will take place at an as-of-yet unspecified date in early March. The reports suggest that this event, to take place in San Francisco, will see the first public appearance of the highly-anticipated iPad 2 successor.
Confirmed by Apple, who are reluctant to say more than an event will happen, the predicted iPad 3 unveiling is presumed to take place at Apple hotspot – the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts – the same site Apple’s iPad 2 reveal took place almost one year ago. The new tablet is alleged to be the headliner of this event and will be presented by late CEO and Founder Steve Jobs’ padawan Tim Cook. Jobs broke the news of the iPad 2 at last year’s event which took place on March 2nd 2011.
The iPad 3 is still very much shrouded in rumour and nothing is for certain, but some of those choice speculations involve the tablet coming with a powerfully fast quad-core processor chip and greatly improved graphics as well as an eye-splitting 2048 x 1536 retina display.
For those who remember last year’s event the iPad 2 became available on the tech consumer market just a few weeks after the announcement, so perhaps we should expect a similar timescale for the next Apple tablet. So start saving and hopefully this time it’s actually something we want – and not an iPad 2S or something.
