According to an article in Forbes, Nokia will be announcing at least one high-end device at the Mobile World Congress this year.
The Barcelona-based conference, which goes for a week from February 27th, is often home to some of the highest profile product launches of the year, and apparently Nokia will be a big part of the proceedings. They haven’t attended MWC for the last two years, so their confirmed presence there does hint that they’ve got something big in the works.
It could be the rumoured last roll of the Symbian dice, with the Nokia 803. That handset is reported to have ‘the largest camera sensor to date’, including optical zoom. The phone will also apparently come with a 4” AMOLED screen, a HDMI port, NFC connectivity and a Micro SIM slot.
Nokia also might be due to announce a 1000 series Windows Phone. After denying that the Lumia 900 would come with a 12 megapixel camera in the EU, there’s still room for a Dual-Core Windows Phone as that OS’s hardware requirements are updated for 2012, and would certainly quality as a top-end device.
Which will it be? We don’t know – it could even be a rumoured Windows 8 tablet. We’ll know for sure on February 27th, the date of Nokia’s MWC press conference, so stay tuned.
