HTC One X & One S Confirmed – And European HTC Sensation Owners to Get “Early Preview” of Android ICS

A double dose of HTC goodness arrives today, with an update on yesterday’s news that the quad-core number once known as the Edge could become officially branded with another name – and also that HTC is granting a number of European Sensation owners an early peek at newest Android mobile operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich!

HTC One X & One S Confirmed:

Speculation surfaced yesterday that the quad-core super-beast of a smartphone, previously named the HTC Edge and then the HTC Endeavour will be getting a rename before heading out to become one of the main attractions at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. This speculation surfaced when a Danish domain name was registered suggesting that the monster mobile will come at us with the moniker “HTC One X” – a name which resembled an earlier detailed concept which may or may not have become the HTC Edge.

The connection was clearly there and HTC has allegedly confirmed this today. The HTC Edge will now be officially named the HTC One X and will be joined in rank by the HTC Ville which will henceforth be referred to as the HTC One S. Both boast NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor and Android upgrade 4.0 complimented by HTC’s Sense user interface. One of the only notable differences will be the screen size – the One X featuring a 4.7” qHD display, the One S screen will be a smaller 4.3”. We should find out these facts for certain, as well as the full spec and whether these titan twins will be joined by a third music-oriented “One XL” with Beats Audio at the MWC from February 27th to March 1st.

Android ICS “Early Access Preview” for HTC Sensation & Sensation XL:

A number of HTC Sensation and Sensation XL owners across Europe will be the lucky recipients of an “Early Access Preview” of newest Google Android OS upgrade, version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is basically a trial roll out ahead of the full scale assault on all HTC gadgets previously announced for the platform (which you can check in full in a previous article) and the select few will be able to test updates and improvements before the general public who will get their tasty update in the next few months. HTC plans to use this limited distribution model to trial future platform updates, so if you don’t get an early sample this time there’s always hope for Android 5.0 Jelly Bean!
