The newest version of HTC’s user interface enhancement feature for Android – HTC Sense – will not be arriving on handsets in the popular HTC Sensation range. Instead focusing much of the attention on a line-up which was recently made official at the Mobile World Congress, HTC Sense 4.0 will compliment Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the new “One” range, including the quad-core flagship model – the HTC One X.
A statement from HTC reads: “HTC Sense brings a variety of new software enhancements to HTC One, some of which utilize the latest hardware innovations, meaning not all functionality can be introduced to older HTC Devices. With that said, we are looking to bring a Sense 4 software update that includes as many of the enhancements as possible to a variety of our new devices.”
Some HTC Sensation and Sensation XL owners across Europe have been lucky enough to grab an early access preview of the tasty new features in the new Google mobile OS and what this statement means is that only some of the “Key elements” of the new HTC Sense comes along. HTC has announced very little about its reason to provide only slimmed down version of its native software but we can only guess it’s again due to hardware restrictions on the now somewhat dated HTC Sensation models Android ICS will be delivered to these handsets mostly Sense-less. You may similarly remember HTC having to cut back on how much Sense the HTC Desire model was awarded when the demanding Android 2.3 Gingerbread came along in July of last year.
HTC Sense provides additional features to the Android software such as calculator, clocks, FM Radio, weather and HTC Watch widgets amongst a whole host of software enhancements. However it’s yet to be confirmed which of these useful and familiar features will make it onto the HTC Sensation range when the scaled down HTC Sense arrives on Android 4.0.
