I’m sure you’ll have read the new about the “new iPad” along with the announcement of the new Apple TV 3.0 as well. The company also announced yesterday that the latest version of iOS is now available for users to download and install – iOS 5.1.
If you’re not familiar with what version 5.1 has to offer, you can expect a fair amount of new features along with some bug fixes and stability improvements too. Below is a list of the new features included in iOS 5.1
- Japanese, French, German and Australian language support for Siri
- Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream
- Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)
- Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
- Redesigned Camera app for iPad
- Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers
- Audio for TV shows and movies on iPad optimised to sound louder and clearer
- Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30 second rewind for iPad
- Addresses bugs affecting battery life
- Fixes an issue that occasionally caused audio to drop in outgoing calls
So, if you want to take advantage of new features and improvements for your iOS device, the update should now be available to download and apply to your iOS device. You can either plug in via USB and update using iTunes on your PC, or connect your iOS device to Wi-Fi, head into the Settings menu, then General, then Software Update and download it over the air.
