Apple App Store Ups Capacity for Downloads to 50MB – Greater Range of Software for the New iPad

Apple has increased its mobile and tablet software download capacity to 50MB through the App Store, meaning now iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad owners running the brand new iOS 5.1 can enjoy much improved apps. This also means developers have much more freedom to create games and helpful tools for Apple gadgets, with less restriction.

 This increase has been a gradual process over the past few months but now Apple, and third-party developers with apps meeting the strictest of requirements, can share software which matches the spec currently found on Google’s Android Market (now Google Play). That is for now. As we recently reported Google has big plans for it’s software shop and has widened its potential to cater for apps from 50MB to a 3G killing 4GB. But of course this is only aimed to be used on certain occasions, and over a Wi-Fi connection, to grab tasty new gaming apps and high requirement software for the coming wave of quad-core and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich gadgets from the likes of HTC, ZTE and LG.

Apple isn’t quite at that stage yet, but does promise quad-core style graphics on its upcoming gadgets and the new boost for App Store will certainly look after those looking to invest in the “new” iPad, which boasts an HD retina display and a higher capacity for apps should be sharp and speedy.
