Nokia Windows Phone Apps Get Updates – Nokia Drive, Maps and Transport

Owners of Nokia’s Lumia 710 and 800 handsets will be receiving some fresh updates in the coming days, as Nokia has unleashed updates to all of its apps for Windows Phone.

Nokia Drive, Maps and Transport will all receive an update in the next couple of weeks as the Finnish company continues to heavily support (and put faith) into Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system. The updates were originally announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but are now coming to consumers handsets.

First up Nokia Maps users will be getting a new favourites option which will allow you to store a collection of your favourite places and routes, such as your favourite restaurant or comic book store, allowing you to9 easily navigate from the favourites list. There will also be a sharing update on the app to let you easily share place details and how to get there via SMS, email or social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.

There will also be support added for the USA, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Belgium, Russia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, UK, France, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, India and UAE.

Nokia Drive will also be getting some interesting features in the form of speed limit support, which will advise users on areas with designated speed limits and will alert when you exceed said limit. Possibly more important will be the new offline mode, where users will be able to pre-load journeys and maps so that they can then navigate without the need for a constant 3G data connection. This feature will be great in poor signal areas and especially useful if you are travelling abroad.

Last but by no means least, Nokia will finally release its Nokia Transport app to Lumia owners, providing public transport information for trams, buses and trains for 510 cities in 46 countries. Nokia Transport will be available to all Lumia owners via the Windows Phone Marketplace.
