Sony has today unveiled a brand new professional grade camcorder which will be officially known as the NEX-FS700.
The impressive prosumer camcorder is capable of recording full HD quality at 120 and 240 fps, in 16 or 8 second burst modes. It can also capture at 480 and even 960 fps at a reduced resolution if very fast frame rates are required for slow-motion recording. It’s compatible with E-mount interchangeable lenses, and also features built-in ND filters to give you more control when recording.
The NEX-FS700 is also equipped with an impressive 11.6 million pixel sensor, with Sony planning a future upgrade that will allow the camcorder to output 4K bitstream data over 3G HD-SDI when used in conjunction with an optional Sony 4K recorder.
Juan Martinez, senior product manager at Sony Electronics Professional Solutions explains:
“This camera opens a new door to creative shooting,”-”You can record beautiful high speed full HD movies with the freedom of creative interchangeable lens choice. The NEX-FS700U, with its super slow motion mode, is ideal for promos, TV dramas, commercials and documentaries as well as sports and a variety of event shooting.”
The NEX-FS700U will be available in North American, while the NEX-FS700E will be available for users in Europe. Although no exact pricing has been made available yet, it’s been announced by Sony that the camcorder will cost less than $10,000 and will be arriving June 2012.
