Motorola has announced that it will be bringing its RAZR Maxx smartphone to customers in the UK and Asia next month, along with that epic battery life it has.
The company revealed the RAZR Maxx just after it wowed with the ultra-thin RAZR, much to the annoyance of those early adopters who went out and bought the original straightaway. To the untrained eye the phones are identical, although those who have handled a RAZR before will notice that the RAZR Maxx is a tad thicker.
Why the extra thickness if the emphasis is on the phone being insanely thin? The RAZR Maxx’s main selling point: a whopping 3300mAh battery. To cram in such a massive battery cell Motorola had to sacrifice some of the RAZR’s crazy-thin profile, but you’re still getting a very slim phone with the RAZR Maxx, which measures just 8.99mm thick.
That huge battery provides what Motorola is calling the “longest talk time on any smartphone”. Where the iPhone 4S achieves around 6.5 hours and the Galaxy Nexus manages roughly 8.5 hours talktime, the RAZR Maxx goes way past that, giving you up to 16 hours and 17 minutes of continuous call time – that’s seriously impressive. With average usage, this phone should last you through a weekend from a single charge.
A 1.2GHz Dual Core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM provides a speedy experience along with Android Gingerbread software, although it’s not the fastest Android phone we’ve ever used. The front of the phone boasts a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display covered with ultra-tough Gorilla Glass, while the back sports an impressive 8-Megapixel camera and a soft-touch Kevlar cover.
The Motorola RAZR Maxx should launch in Europe and Asia starting next month (May), and should be priced very similarly to the existing RAZR model.
