It’s quite possible that if you are an Apple Mac user, you may have heard about the malware that has affected an estimated half a million Mac computers.
Well, Apple have stepped into action and announced that they are currently in the process of developing a tool(s) that will allow users to easily remove the malicious software known as Flashback from their Macs.
These new tools come in addition to the recent patch that Apple released, which stops the malware being installed on vulnerable Macs. In a message posted on the Apple support forum, the company said that they have fixed a “Java security flaw for systems running OS X v10.7 and Mac OS X v10.6”.
Apple have advised users that run older versions of Mac OS to disable Java within their web browser. The message also states that Apple are currently working with various ISPs to shut down the bot network that hosts the malware, and also allows it to perform many of its critical functions.
Currently there are a couple of third-party tools available online that will scan for the malware and remove it if detected. However, there are some that will prefer to use Apple’s official tool in order to do this. The only problem though, Apple haven’t indicated when the tool is going to be available. As soon as it is though, we’ll certainly let you know.
