Amazon Kindle Touch on Sale Today – Reader Tablet Ships One Week Early Due to Demand

Amazon has begun shipping its latest Kindle reader, the Kindle Touch, a week ahead of its due date. The original date for the 7-inch e-ink display reader was to be next Friday, but with orders “exceeding expectation” the gadget is winging its way to pre-order buyers today.

The new Kindle Touch reader tablet boasts the “most-advanced” E-ink display to date, with a new multi-touch function replacing the traditional buttons of the earlier models. It comes in two models, one with Wi-Fi only which costs £109 and another with Wi-Fi and always-connected 3G for £169, meaning a selection of over one millions books, magazines and exclusive publications are easily accessible anywhere you go.

Amazon’s new gadget also supports MP3 and audiobooks and features a new X-Ray information source which lets you study deeper into the book you’re reading. Bookworms won’t get bored easily with the storage space to carry a potential 3000 eBooks and a battery life of 2 months from a full charge.

The Amazon Kindle Touch can be bought today from Amazon.co.uk and also a selection of local stockists including Tesco, Argos, Carphone Warehouse, Currys and PC World.

WH Smith has today announced that it will be dedicating a section of 100 of its U.K high street stores to promoting and supporting the Kindle rival Kobo, allowing those unsure of which reader to buy a chance to try the alternative. Read the Gadget Helpline’s coverage of this story here.
