ASUS’ new mid-range Transformer tablet, the Transformer Pad 300, will launch in the UK next month for just £399, the company has officially revealed.
If you’ve ever wanted the excellent tablet and netbook combination of the Transformer Prime but decided against it due to the price, this new option could be just what you’ve been looking for. At £100 less the Transformer Pad offers the same Android 4.0 software, slim 10.1-inch tablet and keyboard dock.
Both Currys and PC World will be exclusively offering pre-orders for the new transforming gadget online in early May, although a precise date hasn’t yet been set. When you consider that the 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad 3 is the same price, you’re getting quite a bargain with ASUS’ latest offering, with double the storage and double the hardware.
The Transformer Pad 300 will be available in three awesome-sounding colours: Royal Blue, Iceberg White and Torch Red (pictured above). The first to launch will be the Royal Blue variant in May, followed by the White version in June and finally the Red in late July.
You’ll be able to pre-order online early next month or buy in PC World and Currys stores later on in the month. All other retailers will then start selling it in June.
For your hard-earned dough you’ll get a slim and attractive Android 4.0 tablet with a 10.1-inch IPS screen, a powerful Quad-Core processor in the form of the Nvidia Tegra 3, 32GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera, HDMI out, microSD card slot and of course, an optional keyboard dock. The dock not only transforms your tablet into a netbook computer, but it also adds around 5 hours of battery life to the existing 10 hours you’ll get from a fully charged tablet on its own.
For £399 we reckon ASUS’ mid-range Transformer could become a great rival to Apple’s new iPad, do you?
