We’re sure many Windows Phone users out there are crying out for the popular photo sharing app Instagram, but fear not, as we’ve found you something to cater for your filter-fetish.
EyeEm is a pretty cool little app that is free to download right now from the Windows Phone Marketplace. Like Instagram, it offers quick and easy photo taking, editing and sharing through various social networks.
It’s also on iPhone and Android too, so if you’re fed up with Instagram or fancy trying something new, it’s well worth a shot. Being on the three major smartphone platforms also means that the user base has much more potential to grow larger than that of Instagram, so there’s more scope for your artsy snaps to reach more people.
The premise is simple: either point and shoot or select a photo you’ve already taken, edit it and then share it. EyeEm gives you ten filters to choose from, ranging from the classic Sepia to the intriguely titled ‘Strawberry’. Once you’ve got your photo how you want it you can choose from Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr to share your work with.
Social is the key aspect with this app, and you can browse through other EyeEm users’ photos with ease. You can search for a type of photo or a user and connect with them easily, or the app will use your phone’s location to find other EyeEm users in your area. If you just want to follow the people you know, the app will link with your phone book to see who else is using it.
The app’s interface is very neat and you’ll find it’s not too cluttered. Popular photos are displayed on the Popular page and common subjects and titles are shown on the Albums page.
If you’re a Windows Phone addict then EyeEm will probably make you forget that Instagram envy you get when you see a friend snapping away on their iPhone or Android phone. Download it from the Windows Phone Marketplace now for free.
