Sony has revealed an ice cool variant of its recently released PS Vita handheld console. Exciting news – but hold up. There’s a little bit of bad news if you live in the West..
The Crystal White portable PS Vita will be released on June 23rd to compliment the launch of Hatsune Miku, a voice synthesiser game currently exclusive to Japan, so it’s unlikely for the moment that the gaming gadget will touch down here in the Britain unless we get a good reason for a tie-in (cash-in) of some sort. We’re hoping possibly an Olympic edition, similar to the Xbox 360 Jubilee celebration bundle which was recently and unofficially announced by Amazon. And let’s not forget Nintendo’s rival the 3DS which celebrates Super Mario in with own stylish Ice White finish.
But to take a look at what those lucky gamers in Japan will be able to get to grips with this June – It’s essentially the same PS Vita as the one which got its U.K and Europe release on February 22nd including 5” OLED multi-touch screen displaying 32-bit colour, with traditional Playstation buttons and D-Pad with games controls also benefitting from a rear-touchpad and motion sensing. The Crystal White PS Vita variant arrives in Japan with 4GB memory card, the Hatsune Miku game and customisable decal. The price of this spin on Sony’s latest handheld will cost up to 30,000 yen for the full-fat Wi-Fi & 3G connected model – that’s around £230 British. Cheaper than the current asking price for a Standard black PS Vita, so we expect any variants released here will be considerably more expensive than in Japan.
