Mobile software store Google Play has hit a milestone 15-billion downloads since its launch as the Android Market on October 23rd, 2008. Recently the change of name has welcomed a host of new apps including entertainment in the form or videos, music and books – and or course let’s not forget the recent addition of Angry Birds Space which has been downloaded more than 50-million times across our mobile platforms as well as the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich currently shipping with many new gadgets, and enjoying a roll out on existing devices.
These factors have helped the newly renamed Google Play gain another 4-billion app downloads since only January, but the store which caters for over 300-million active Android gadgets including smartphones and tablets from top hardware manufacturers such as HTC, Sony and Samsung, still falls a bit short of Apple’s own App Store through iTunes which was reported to a mark of its own back in March, when it achieved 25-billion downloads.
