Patent Revealed for RIM’s BlackBerry Battery Charging Holster

Research in Motion (RIM) has reportedly filed a new patent which could promise a new “on-the-go” method for charging the battery on our BlackBerry smartphones in the near future – which the mobile gadget fitting into a wearable holster.

The big announcement from the recent BlackBerry World Conference was the reveal of the BlackBerry 10 operating platform on a number of prototypes and its exciting new features including smart camera, cloud computing and advanced multitasking. These are demanding features for any smartphone’s battery and it seems RIM was on the ball as to how to address these requirements.

The concept design for the new charger reveals that a flexible battery would be built into a holster which after a good charge on the mains can attach to a belt and be carried on our person at all times. If the drain of all those new BB10 apps and tools gets your gadget a little drained, you can simply pop it in the cradle for an instant charge – without having to stop your busy routine. The friendly accessory also will include itself own speakers and will also give an audible alert when you receive a call, text or notification. If you’re old enough to remember them, we think this will kind of resembles a pager.

In other recent RIM news, the Canadian co. recently released a new youth-aimed smartphone – the BlackBerry Curve 9320. This model features all the essential features for social networkers including pre-loaded Facebook and Twitter apps as well as dedicated BBM button built into the hardware.
