No doubt you know about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy SIII along with some of the cool new features it has aon offer.
If you’ve been following the new phone’s story, you’ll probably be aware that the new Galaxy SIII has a nifty new voice assistant, similar to that offered by Apple with Siri. It goes by the name of S Voice and uses a natural user interface which allows it to answer questions you ask as well as being able to perform actions such as launching an application you may have requested.
Now thanks to XDA-developers member PlaYOuT, the highly anticipated S Voice software has been extracted from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy SIII and posted to the XDA Forum, making it available for you to download and use. Also, along with S Voice, another XDA member has extracted other apps and widgets from the new Galaxy SIII. These include: AccuWeather, Gtalk, YouTube, FM Radio, a couple of digital clock widgets and also ringtones. Bear in mind that in order to use the apps you’ll need to make sure that your Android device is rooted and that it is also running Ice Cream Sandwich too.
According to users that have already downloaded and installed the new S Voice assistant, it would seem that it is working without any hiccups. So if you fancy giving S Voice a go, you can head on over to the XDA forums where its available to download now.
UPDATE: Samsung has unfortunately spoiled the fun, or rather Vlingo has. It turns out that Samsung enlisted Vlingo, a company who already produces a voice assistant app for all devices, to create S Voice. Vlingo has now made changes so that any requests from the S Voice software that come from non-Galaxy S3 devices are blocked. It looks like we’ll have to wait until the end of the month after all.
Also, if you do decide to download it and give it a go, let us know what you think about it. Is it better than Siri, or just a poor imitation? Let us know your thoughts below or via our @Gadget_Helpline Twitter page or Official Facebook group.
