HTC’s quad-core, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich flavoured super-smartphone the One X and its travel buddy the EVO 4G have finally made it into the United States after the handsets faced a little bit of hassle getting through customs last week ahead of the country’s public sales launch which was originally set to be May the 15th.
A statement was released by HTC at the time admitting that the devices had been delayed at customs on route from Taiwan after it was thought both the HTC One X and EVO 4G breached the copyright of a patent belonging to tech titan and courtroom contender Apple. But it seems now that HTC may have managed to avoid the bullet for the time being and the duo of devices should clear customs after passing inspections. A new statement reads:
“Each imported HTC model must be reviewed by Customs and will be released once Customs officials have completed the inspection. Some models have gone through inspection and been released to our carriers customers. We don’t have the status of each specific device model at this time, but we are working closely with Customs. We remain confident that this issue will be resolved soon.”
The HTC One X is the new flagship model which packs NVIDIA’s impressive 1.5GHz quad-core Tegra 3 CPU, 4.7” qHD touchscreen and 8-megapixel camera with HTC ImageSense and 1080p HD video output and its absence on the U.S market would deliver a critical blow to HTC’s next stop in translating the gadget’s U.K success.
