Countdown to E3 2012: Castlevania: Lord of Shadows – Mirror of Fate Confirmed for Pre-show Announcement

The Electronic Entertainment Expo runs between the 5th and 7th of June and the Gadget Helpline will be following all the major hardware and software announcements from big industry names such as Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony – as well as offering a Daily Recap on many areas of this year’s show!

Following the launch of www.thedragonsreturn.com – which was believed to be a web domain relating to an anticipated new game in the fan favourite Castlevania series, Konami and Nintendo Power magazine have confirmed news of a new spin-off for Nintendo’s 3DS handheld which will be officially announced on the 31st of May before fully surfacing from the shadows and doing the rounds at the E3 which kicks off next Tuesday!

A pre-E3 press conference will hopefully provide more information on Castlevania: Lord of Shadows – Mirror of Fate, which combines two previously rumoured titles into one really, really long title. The Nintendo 3DS title will feature 15th century vampire slayer Trevor Belmont as its main playable character. Trevor is the father of Simon Belmont the Dracula pummelling protagonist of the very classic original Castlevania on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1986.

It’s unknown, however, if the game will be in 3D first person perspective similar to Castlevania: Curse of Darkness for Playstation 2 and original Xbox or a side-scrolling platform style like the very earliest Castlevania titles, only with a modern three dimensional twist – The latter would be most welcome by this veteran NES gamer!

Konami will let the bats loose tomorrow in that pre-E3 Press Conference and we can’t wait to catch up with the Belmont Clan to kick some fang!
