Countdown to E3: ‘Smart Glass’ Wireless Phone to Xbox Streaming Service Rumoured

The Electronic Entertainment Expo runs between the 5th and 7th of June and the Gadget Helpline will be following all the major hardware and software announcements from big industry names such as Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony – as well as offering a Daily Recap on many areas of this year’s show!

 

 

With E3 kicking off today, rumours have crept out early about an interesting new wireless file sharing service that Microsoft may have in the works.

Called ‘Smart Glass’, the new feature is for the Xbox 360 and allows it to interact wirelessly with smartphones of all kinds, much like Apple’s AirPlay technology does.

The rumour states that Microsoft will launch a host of Smart Glass apps for different mobile platforms – iOS, Android and of course, Windows Phone. These apps will allow the user to wirelessly share media content between their phone and Xbox 360 console via Wi-Fi.

This could include downloading movies on your Xbox and continuing playback on your phone when you leave the room, or beaming a photo or song from your phone to the console to be played on the big screen.
