One of the unlikely heroes of the Mobile World Congress back in February was the Samsung Galaxy Beam. This wildcard of the annual gadgety affair came as an illuminating surprise and a short few months later we’re hearing the some more indication of when it’ll be beaming its way to our U.K retailers.
A projected date of late June has been given for the Galaxy Beam which brings all the features of a mid-range Samsung smartphone, including Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 786MB of RAM and respectable 5-megapixel camera. The thing that makes this one special and the reason it has such an unusual name, is because it bears a most unusual special feature – a projector that packs a 15-lumens bright beam which can display media such as photos and video on surfaces up to 50-inches at 720p resolution. File types the Galaxy Beam supports include MPEG4, WMV and DivX and its backing battery is a heavy duty 2000mAh cell.
The Carphone Warehouse is the first to advertise the Samsung Galaxy Beam in the U.K with the mandatory “Coming Soon” page now live on the website. The gadget has been previously priced at £384.98 SIM-free.
