Flipboard Launches on Android, Adds YouTube and Google+ Integration

[tab name=’News’]

After a successful exclusivity period on the Samsung Galaxy SIII, the popular media consumption app Flipboard has now launched on the Play Store for most Android devices.

For those unfamiliar, Flipboard offers a digital-magazine style format for checking out the latest news, updates from your Facebook and Twitter, and plenty more. It’s now been updated to fix crashing issues and bugs, as well as adding new features and spreading its wings on all devices.

The upgrade adds in Google+ and YouTube integration, allowing users to view their Google+ feed in a similar way to their Facebook and Twitter feeds. The top news from your G+ account will be combined in Flipboard’s usual neat and intuitive format, while users can add their favourite YouTube channels to their board.

You can either choose from a list of the most popular YouTube channels or search for some your own, add them to your homepage and then view videos natively in the app with ease. This just adds to how easy it is to consume everything you need on Flipboard – it’s a truly brilliant app for reading, watching and general browsing.

These additions have also been added to the iOS version of the app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. Flipboard originally launched on Apple’s platform a while back, and due to its increasing popularity it brought the app to Android, albeit exclusively on the Galaxy SIII. That didn’t stop enterprising developers from making the app available to all Android users, as we showed you a while back.

Flipboard also revealed that the app will also come pre-installed on the U.S version of the Galaxy SIII, which is available now, despite being in hot demand and therefore difficult to obtain for many.
