Samsung aims to keep Galaxy SIII users happy with a whole host of its own applications and media suites, and the latest addition to the bustling range is a new fitness app called S Health.

S Health was actually announced back in May, although its announcement was somewhat overshadowed by the Galaxy SIII itself that preceded it that evening. It’s just launched through Samsung’s More Services app in the UK as a free app, available exclusively for Galaxy SIII users.

The app is designed to pair your phone with an array of fitness gadgets via either Bluetooth or USB, and then track your progress digitally so you know just how well you’re doing. With S Health you’ll be able to monitor blood pressure, glucose levels and measure body composition with ease through your smartphone, provided you hook it up to a compatible accessory first.

Blood Pressure Monitors, Body Composition Trackers and Blood Glucose Meters from brands such as Omron, Lifescan and A&D will all play nicely with the app, by Bluetooth or even by connecting up to the Micro USB port on the bottom of the phone – this feature can work as the Galaxy SIII has the excellent USB-On-The-Go feature.

Simon Stanford, Vice President, Telecommunications and Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “S Health can provide real benefits in terms of tracking and monitoring health and wellness for our customers. We’re delighted to bring this innovative application to the Galaxy S III’s portfolio of diverse content and applications to suit different needs.”

Once you’ve finished your workout, S Health will collate your body information into neat graphs and tables for evaluation and sharing through various social outlets. The app isn’t just for fitness fanatics though – compatibility with blood pressure and blood glucose meters means that those with medical conditions can easily track their levels over a prolonged period of time.

We’ll be giving the app a test shortly – in the meantime let us know what you think if you’ve tried it out.
