Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 to Hit UK August 31st, Costing £599

After a lengthy wait, Asus’ latest and greatest transforming tablet is almost ready to hit our shores. The Transformer Pad Infinity will launch in the UK on August 31st, at a price of £599.

After numerous reports of poor GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity from the impressive Transformer Prime, Asus announced a newer, better model that would fix this issue – much to the dismay of those who picked up a Prime early on, like this blogger. Although the new tablet was announced shortly after the Prime, it’s taken a long time to actually make it to market, and will at the end of next month.

Asus has confirmed that the new flagship will hit the UK in a 64GB version with the keyboard dock in tow, priced at £599. Being double the storage of the original Transformer Prime, the TF700 is inevitably pricier, at £100 more. The bad news is that Asus hasn’t confirmed if a cheaper 32GB version will launch here yet – fingers crossed.

For those who haven’t encountered the new Infinity series of Transformer Pads yet, this is the new top-of-the-range model. Asus changed the name from Transformer Prime to Transformer Pad, and introduced a cheaper range along with the premium ‘Infinity’ range. The TF700 (this model) packs a 10.1-inch high resolution (1920 x 1200) display, Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and an 8-megapixel camera.

As with all models in the range before it, the big appeal is a tablet that can be quickly transformed into an Android netbook with a keyboard dock. The dock adds battery life, and in the case of the Infinity it can add upwards of 4 hours usage to the tablet.

Finally, before it’s even been released, the TF700 has been confirmed to receive the next version of Android; 4.1 aka Jelly Bean.
