Lenovo’s Windows 8 OS ThinkPad Tablet 2 Due for Release in October

Lenovo is having a busy week with its US release of the new ThinkPad Carbon X1 Ultrabook, and now the company is turning its attention to the tablet market with its forthcoming ThinkPad Tablet 2.

Yesterday Lenovo announced that its new Windows 8 OS running tablet will be coming out in October and will be one of the first tablet devices to be running Microsoft’s newest operating system.

The ThinkPad Tablet 2 is a joint effort between Lenovo, Microsoft and Intel, and comes with some great spec to make the tablet very desirable. It has a 10.1-inch WXGA touchscreen with a 1366 x 768 screen ratio, an Intel dual-core Clover Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

The Lenovo’s ThinkPad Tablet 2 also includes HSPA+/LTE compatibility and optional NFC and fingerprint reading, as well as Mini HDMI, microSD and USB 2.0 connections, plus an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP camera on the front for video calling, both of which have LED flash.

The hardware also has a nice edge to it as the TinkPad Tablet 2 has stereo speakers, a dual microphone with digital noise reduction and measures in at 262.6 x 164 x 9.8mm and weighs 650g.

In the US the ThinkPad Tablet 2 will come in two versions; one with 3G and one with 4G. There is no news on pricing or an exact release date but with Windows 8 OS looking set for a release on October the 26th we can expect the tablet about then.
