There’s a stake to the heart for Nintendo 3DS owners hoping to tackle Dracula in the new (and lengthily titled) Castlevania spin-off Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate which was announced at this year’s E3 Expo and previously scheduled for a pre-Christmas launch on the handheld platform.
Publisher Konami has now announced that the game has been severely delayed with a vague idea that it will appear at some point in ‘2013’.
No reason has been specified as to why the battle between the Belmont family and the legendary vampire has been now put on hold for Nintendo 3DS, but Konami confirms that a separate game confusingly titled Castlevania – Lords of Shadow 2 will still launch on the aforementioned Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 platforms.
A PC version has also been announced, but there’s no news however on whether these versions are also to suffer any postponement but it seems it’s just Nintendo gamers who will suffer.
The spin-off for Nintendo’s current pocket platform will reference events of the 2010 game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which was released on the ‘big’ consoles and will continue that storyline and cross-over classic side-scrolling action with cutting edge 3D delivered only by the innovative portable.
The original featured voice-overs by acting faves such as Robert Carlyle and Star Trek actor Patrick Stewart.
