Acer has announced the latest Android Jelly Bean sporting tablet to hit the market, in the form of the 7-inch Iconia Tab A110.
With the tablet being 7-inches and sporting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS it would appear that Acer has created a direct rival for Google and Asus’ flagship Android tablet, the Google Nexus 7. Acer has described the tablet as “a tablet that you can easily hold in one hand and still lets you enjoy web browsing, multimedia, or even work if you need to”.
The Acer Iconia Tab A110 comes with a 7-inch LCM (liquid crystal monitor) touchscreen which is just shy of being classed as HD, coming in with a resolution of 1024 x 600. It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and runs off the Nvidia Tegra 3 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The device weighs in at 390g and on the outside of the device users have access to a microSD card slot capable of expanding that by a further 32GB to complement the existing 8GB of internal memory built in. The Iconia Tab A110 also has a micro USB 2.0 port and a HDMI out, plus Wi-Fi connectivity.
Acer has not officially priced the tablet but they have announced that it will arrive in the UK on October the 1st, and some websites have got the tablet on pre-order, listed for a cool £180, which is £20 more than the 8GB version of the Nexus 7 and £20 cheaper than the 16GB version.
