Budget phone maker ZTE looks as though it’s getting ready to jump on the big phone bandwagon with a super-slim 5-inch handset called the Nubia Z5.
Images of the new and as yet unannounced smartphone show it could be a real contender to the likes of HTC, Samsung and even Apple. One image shows a side view of the Nubia Z5 side by side with the new iPhone 5, and it looks to be even thinner than Apple’s waif 7.6mm-thin phone.
Images of the phone’s back show it to look very similar to HTC’s One X, with a raised, circular camera lens protruding and a LED flash directly underneath. That camera is said to be an impressive-sounding 13-megapixel sensor, although other details are currently scarce. There also appears to be two sets of micro-drilled holes at the bottom of the handset, which are said to be covering a pair of stereo speakers.
The handset is said to feature a very Italian design, though we’re not seeing it just yet. Perhaps we were thinking there would be leather and other swanky materials. It’s also said to rock a 5-inch high resolution display and a powerful quad-core processor, which certainly makes it sound like a promising product.
According to the leaked information, the ZTE Nubia Z5 will launch in December, although which markets it will land in we’re unsure of.
