As a special thankyou to the gamers who have been using Xbox Live since the very beginning, Microsoft will be dishing out a free and very limited edition version of its Xbox 360 console.
Believe it or not, Xbox Live launched way back in November 2002, making this month its 10 year anniversary. To celebrate, Xbox’s very own Major Nelson has confirmed they will be giving away an Xbox Live-themed console to the first and longest subscribers to the service. The console will not be sold anywhere, making it even more exclusive.
“I can confirm we’re surprising some of the #Xbox LIVE members that have been with us the longest with one of these http://mjr.mn/THwudE ” said Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, Director of Programming for Xbox Live.
The console itself is grey and silver with the Xbox Live logo on the side and the symbolic green and orange colours adorning the top and bottom plates. The matching controller looks pretty awesome too, finished in a sort of matte gunmetal grey with gloss black.
It’s currently unclear just how many of these consoles will be going out, and whether it’s a worldwide thing or US only. We also suspect that you’ll need to have been an Xbox Live Gold member for as close to 10 years as possible in order to be in with a shot.
What do you think of the limited edition console?
