Samsung has reportedly started rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to its 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 in the UK and Europe.
The update has been reported by Samsung centric website Sammobile, which states that the Android 4.1.1 update has started to pop up on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 devices in France, which would signify that the update is on a slow roll out across Europe.
It’s a pretty good upgrade for people who are looking for a cheap tablet to use but are not fussed about the age of the device as the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has recently seen some big price cuts thanks to newer devices hitting the market and it means that you can now pick up one of the tablets, with Jelly Bean, for less than a Google Nexus 7 or Amazon Kindle Fire for just under £150.
The update is coming down to tablets OTA via Wi-Fi so users don’t need to search on Samsung’s Kies PC software for the update and it should land automatically on the tablet over the next few weeks.
The Jelly Bean update for the tablet will include a new user interface plus some speed improvements and tablet-specific updates that mean the speed of the device Tab 2 should improve, plus Google’s own personal assistance service dubbed Google Now which will tell you the weather, show you the latest football scores and tell you how long it’s going to take to get home.
We hope Samsung will officially announce the update in the coming days but if not then keep your eyes peeled on your Tab 2’s download bar to see if the update has landed.
