Music guru and self-proclaimed techie Will.i.am has big plans to turn your iPhone into a “genius phone” with a line of new accessories that he hopes will be a hit with Apple fans.
Mr Black Eyed Peas himself will be launching a whole host of gadget accessories under the new “i.am+” range, but the first is a case for the iPhone that is said to dramatically enhance the camera. While it doesn’t yet have an official name that we know of, the case packs in its own camera sensor and flash that Will.i.am claims to be better than those used in the iPhone itself.
The case will fit the iPhone 4 and 5 – and 4S too, presumably – and can be used alongside the standard iOS camera app. It’s set to launch this week on a global scale, and here’s what Will.i.am thinks of it:
“We have our own sensor and a better flash [than the standard iPhone hardware.] You dock your phone into our device and it turns your smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera.”
Each accessory will come with a login to your own personal “i.am” webpage – a sort of cloud space for storing your new and improved camera shots. The webpage isn’t currently live, though it will launch alongside the accessories this week.
An event will take place in London this week where Will.i.am will reveal the new camera add-on along with other accessories. If you’re interested, Selfridges will be the only place to get one across Europe, starting in December.
