After recently blasting its franchise into a “Galaxy Far, Far Away”, mobile app developer Rovio’s plans for its Angry Birds Movie are about to make a jump to light speed as a producer of some popular modern day animated features has catapulted his way onto the project.
John Cohen is the producer of Despicable Me and has had high profile responsibilities on the Ice Age series. He’s now been officially announced for the Angry Birds movie which will bring the action packed app to life in CGI and is set to take flight in 2016. The project has also already bagged David Maisel; the entertainment executive who has previously served Marvel’s film division which has produced movies such as Iron Man under his leadership.
Regular readers of the Gadget Helpline blog will know we’re big fans of all things Angry Birds and are eager for the eagle and his colourfully feathered friends to appear on the big screen. We’re also aware that Cohen was involved in the Alvin and the Chipmunk’s reboot which was a seriously bad egg. We hope we’re not left furious by another disappointing adaptation – especially one with so much flying on it.
We’ll keep classics like Despicable Me and Ice Age in our optimistic minds and keep you informed of the latest developments on the Angry Birds Movie!
