HTC has a new top of the range smartphone coming out in 2013; this we know. From recent reports, we also know that the phone goes by the codename of ‘M7’. We’re now hearing the first rumours of exactly what the phone will pack, and things are looking good.
Sources that wish to remain unnamed have revealed some of the phone’s features to UnwiredView, and it looks set to follow on from the latest flagship, the Droid DNA/Butterfly/J Butterfly. HTC has just launched its first Full HD smartphone with a 1080p resolution, and that trend looks to continue into 2013 with the M7.
The report suggests that HTC will peg things back a bit in the screen size department, opting to stick with the same 4.7-inch size it used on the One X rather than 5-inches, a la Droid DNA. The display looks set to become a class leader, with an incredible pixel density of 468 pixels per inch – in comparison, the iPhone 5’s Retina display packs 326 pixels per inch.
Inside the M7 is said to be powered by a quad-core processor of unknown origin, clocked at a speedy 1.7GHz. There’s also said to be a 13-megapixel camera on the back of the handset and a large 2,300 mAh battery to compensate for that super sharp screen.
There’s also said to be 2GB of RAM, LTE and 42Mbps HSPA connectivity, Beats Audio and stereo speakers, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and Android Jelly Bean as the operating system.
Of course, these specs could be preliminary and may change before the final launch, or they could be fantasy. Looking at them, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were pretty much spot on as they would follow on naturally from the company’s current range of devices.
