HTC’s as yet unofficial Sense 5.0 upgrade is becoming more and more real by the day. First we saw pictures of it running on the M7 and now a crafty user has uploaded screenshots of the software running on the US-only superphone, the Droid DNA.
Over at XDA-Developers it’s not out of the ordinary to find people who are testing new software before its official release, and it seems that one lucky member is out there giving Sense 5.0 a spin on HTC’s latest US flagship phone, and it looks sweet. The UI has been simplified in terms of looks, giving everything a much cleaner overall feel.
Everything from icons to the weather widget has been redesigned to look different, including the lock screen. It seems HTC will be ditching the ‘pull the ring’ method that it adopted for the last year or so of phones, instead having four straight shortcuts and a padlock icon.
The weather application looks to be backed up by AccuWeather again, as has become HTC tradition, although it looks to have also been given an overhaul in the looks department. The home screen features the option to add folders as before, with a sleek new look to the folder icons to compliment the new system app icons.
Sense 5.o will be running alongside Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on HTC’s flagship smartphone for 2013, which is currently known as the M7. We’ve spotted it in an early computerised render and last week a real-life image, though we’re yet to really get a clear look at the beast. Rumours suggest a 4.7-inch Full HD display, quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear camera, which should put it on par with the slew of Full HD smartphones currently coming out from the likes of Sony, ZTE and LG.
