Following a teaser yesterday on the Angry Birds official Facebook presence, the latest update for Angry Birds Star Wars has launched today added a further 20 free levels to the space based Saga on Android and Apple iOS based gadgets!
Continuing the storyline, which will be familiar to Star Wars fans, the new stages entitled ‘Escape From Hoth’ sees the Rebel birds attempting to do just that – after heading into space at the end of the previous pack we now find Luke, Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca birds dodging asteroids and bashing TIE Fighter manned (pigged?) obstacles before descending inside the belly of the giant asteroid alien from the Empire Strikes Back. Those pesky porkers are of course back to cause trouble for our feathered freedom fighters, but this time as well as being decked out in Imperial Stormtrooper gear they also pop up in the depths of the cavernous comet as winged Mynocks, which is indeed a bit random but keeps the game fresh and interesting.
For those uninitiated in the ways of the feathery Force, Angry Birds Star War was first released in October and has successfully bridged the void between two popular culture phenomenons. With plenty of references, familiar themes and authentic sound effects from George Lucas creation combined with the devastation and cartoon chaos of Rovio’s chart topping app game this one is impressive. Most impressive – to quote Lord Vader himself.
If you haven’t already got it the Gadget Helpline highly recommends grabbing the download at your respective app market for Android and Apple iPhone or iPad and Angry Birds Star Wars costs nothing on the Google Play store, with HD version available at the small cost of £1.99 – and we assure you it does look good up on your Nexus 7 tablet!
