It looks as though LG is ready to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note II again, this time with a brand 5.5-inch Full HD smartphone that we’ve never seen before.
The Korean company tried to rival the original Galaxy Note with an oversized phone of its own, the Optimus Vu, but that didn’t work out too well. Now a recently leaked picture shows a larger phone that’s very, very similar to the design of the Note II from Samsung. Can we smell a lawsuit? You bet.
Dressed up in glossy white, this currently unnamed LG phone has a near identical design with just a few subtle tweaks. We’ve got Samsung’s trademark illuminated back and menu touch buttons flanking a physical oblong menu button below the screen, as well as sensors and front-facing cameras in the top right corner.
Phone Arena got hold of a single leaked image alongside a candid snap of what we’re told is the phone’s specification sheet. This reveals that the large screen in the picture is a 5.5-inch Full HD display, which would certainly out-do the Note II.
Inside we have quality components to match the display, with a powerful 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage plus a micro SD slot, 4G connectivity and a 3,140 mAh battery. There’s also said to be a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which we’re assuming will be the same sensor as used in the Optimus G.
We’re told that the phone, which is dubbed the Optimus G Pro, will launch in LG’s homeland of Korea later this year. We’re hoping the company chooses to reveal it officially later this month at MWC, followed by a worldwide launch so that we can get our grubby mitts on it.
