HTC One SIM-free prices revealed for the UK

HTC is going big with its new smartphone, launching over 80 countries and with some 180 networks around the world on March 15th when the HTC One goes on sale. But what about those who don’t want to be tied down to a network and contract for 2 years just to get a new phone?

Thankfully some retailers will offer the phone SIM-free, for those who would prefer using a monthly rolling SIM-only deal, or perhaps for the constant SIM-swappers out there. With such a high spec and premium build we’d expect the HTC One to rival most high-end phones for price, but it turns out that its price tag of £510 is quite reasonable.

Clove Technology has the handset ready and available to pre-order now at that price, whilst Expansys prices it at £519. We came to the conclusion recently that Sony’s Xperia Z was its closest rival, and so at £40 less, HTC’s new handset has an edge over its rival already.

Going by the traditional conversion rate, this should see the phone priced at a little over €600 in Europe and around $650 in the US. Stateside all major networks will be stocking the handset, with the usual up-front fee of $200 for the phone asked for on 2 year deals.

The HTC One sports a brand new quad-core Qualcomm 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch Full HD display and a new UltraPixel camera. There’s not much it doesn’t have packed into that fancy aluminium design, in fact.
