Soon to join the 75,000-odd apps in the BlackBerry World for BlackBerry 10 devices will be the official Spotify app, it’s been confirmed.
Although not yet confirmed officially by the Swedish music streaming company itself, the app is currently in development and seems to be close to finished.
Niko Giannopoulos of N4BB claims to have been shown the Spotify for BlackBerry 10 app running smoothly on the new BlackBerry Z10, although was unable to snap it in action due to various legalities.
He described the app as “flawless” in its functionality on the latest BlackBerry, and from what we’ve heard before it will be a native BlackBerry 10 app rather than a port and re-hashing of the Android app.
Word is that the Spotify app for BlackBerry 10 is finished and is now waiting to be published in the BlackBerry World, so it could be a matter of days or perhaps weeks away.
The BlackBerry Z10 is available in the UK and Canada, with a US launch planned for next month. With Spotify trying to crack the US at the moment, it would make sense for them to launch the Spotify app to coincide with the launch of BlackBerry 10 there.
