Samsung Galaxy S IV GT-I9500 full specifications revealed

We now know exactly when Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S IV, so now we want to know exactly what the phone is all about. As has become tradition in recent years, Sam Mobile has obtained a full spec sheet ahead of the launch from an insider source.

Before we delve into the S4’s internals, the most interesting thing we’ve scooped from the list is that Samsung isn’t using its own hardware for the screen or processor. If true, Samsung will stop using its own AMOLED screens and Exynos processors for the Galaxy S4, breaking tradition. In place of Samsung hardware will be a SoLux display and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, which HTC uses in its new One handset.

The full specs leaked are;

  • 4,99″ Full-HD SoLux Display
  • Snapdragon 600 1.9 Ghz
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 16, 32 or 64 GB
  • 13 Megapixel
  • 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7mm
  • 138 gram
  • Home button with touch buttons
  • Plastic back with aluminium sides
  • Removable battery
  • Black / White

Most of these details match up with reports we’ve heard before, albeit with added details such as the make of the display and processor, and the clock speed. The 4.99-inch Full HD is almost a given when we look at Samsung’s rivals HTC and Sony, who have already released phones with this type of screen quality. The 2GB of RAM is now standard, and from these specs it would seem that Samsung is continuing in the megapixel race, matching Sony’s Xperia Z with a 13 megapixel sensor.

Further to the specifications, the source also leaked a dark and grainy shot of the phone’s boot animation. This merely reveals the phone’s model number ‘GT-I9500’ and name ‘Galaxy S IV’, which follow on from the Galaxy SIII, or GT-I9300.

Despite the leaked specs making perfect sense, we’d still recommend taking this with a slight pinch of salt. There’s only 16 days until Samsung’s event in New York City, where all will be revealed.
