The leaky ship Ubisoft has finally made Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag official, confirming the game’s existence and further details, including a release date.
We already knew a little about the game of course, thanks to several leaks and a miss-timed website launch on Ubisoft’s part. However, we now know that eager gamers will be able to get their hands on the new release this November.
Thankfully the game isn’t coming as early as we had expected, giving those who are yet to play through the delight that is Assassin’s Creed 3 a chance to get up to speed.
Black Flag will follow the general theme of Assassin’s Creed in that you’ll play a Templar throughout the game, assassinating various targets as you go. However, the setting and gameplay will change to something more sea-faring. Black Flag will have a heavy focus on pirates, ships and sea travel.
“With the new hero and new setting we are creating the boldest and most unique Assassin’s Creed game yet, while still respecting the pillars of the franchise that have made it such a fan favorite,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.
We’re told that the infamous Blackbeard will feature in the game as sworn enemy, and you play as Edward Kenway of Britain; a man who once served in the Navy but now looks to a swashbuckling adventure at sea.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be out November 1st on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC.
