Activision bringing ‘Micro Items’ in-game purchases to CoD: Black Ops 2

Activision will bring in-game purchases to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 tomorrow, offering gamers the chance to exchange real life money for add-ons and extras in the game.

Micro Items, as they’re known, will appear within the game on Wednesday 13th March as optional extras. Activision describes them as personal customisations or “nice little luxuries”, most of which have been put in place because gamers have requested them.

One fine example of this is Nuketown 2025; a map that previously gamers could only get if they pre-ordered the game. This will be obtainable as a Micro Item in the game from tomorrow completely free, which we think is awesome. Nuketown Zombies will also be available to purchase in game for 400 Microsoft Points, where previously it was only available to those who bought premium versions of the game.

Personalisation Packs are another area of Micro Items. These can be bought in packs and contain various things to tart up your guns, including camo, reticles and Calling Cards. The first of these is called the Bacon Personalisation Pack, which if you haven’t guessed, will wrap your gun in bacon – tasty. These will cost 160 Microsoft Points a pop.

For 80 Points you’ll be able to buy ‘Flags of the World’ Calling Card packs, or for 160 Microsoft Points you can bag the Extra Slots Pack and double your Create-a-Class slots to 20 as well as get more storage space for recordings and screenshots.

As has become tradition, Micro Items will launch exclusively on Xbox 360 first. It’ll also come to the PS3 and other platforms in time, although Activision hasn’t said when.
