Sky’s excellent Sky Movies app has at long last made its way to Android and the Play Store, offering an app that’s ideal for film buffs.
Previously available on iPhone and iPad only through Apple’s App Store, Sky Movies is a free app that allows Sky Movies customers to brush up on their movie knowledge and watch trailers on the go.
The Android app gives a current list of movies available through the Sky Movies service in a slick grid layout. Daily Picks gives you a horizontally swipe-able grid of Sky’s favourite flicks, which can be opened up and read about individually with a simple tap.
Hands down the best feature about the Sky Movies app is the option to find a movie you want to watch and set it to record on your Sky+ box, no matter where you are in the world. So if you’re thinking about catching the latest Samuel L Jackson movie with an hour left of work to go, you can whip out your phone and set it to record so it’s ready and waiting for you when you get home.
Checking out a movie in Sky’s collection will tell you when it’s next on and which channel you can catch it on, along with the options to watch the trailer and read the synopsis on your mobile or tablet.
In addition to the films available from Sky the app gives you the latest information on brand new movies that are currently hitting the cinema, so you don’t always have to be a couch potato.
As with Sky Go, the app isn’t compatible on every Android device unfortunately. The full list of compatible devices is as follows;
