Micro blogging website Tumblr has quietly passed the 100 million blog mark in the past few days, with the website seeing an incredible growth over the course of a year, with the number of hosted blogs doubling in that time.
Tumblr now has over 100 million blogs and from those blogs some 44.6 billion posts have been created and shared between the communities.
Tech site The Next Web were the first to notice the milestone as Tumblr itself has not published any information about the quite monumental achievement. To put the growth into perspective, in April of 2012 Tumblr boasted a pretty huge 50 million blogs, which means in less than a year the website has grown by 100%!
What’s more, in the first week of March this year the site had a cool 93 million blogs and that number has grown by 7 million in just 25 days, and with 82.7 million posts made each day it’s clear that more and more people are flocking over to the blogging website.
We love Tumblr as it means you can create and share a personal feed and then customise the website to your own features. The social/blogging platform offers an easy to use system that allows a great deal of customisation, as you can use it as almost a fully-fledged CMS or a simple Pinterest style mood-board, and while there are social options, they are not forced on anyone.
You can check out our Gadget Helpline Tumblr feed here to see how we use and share on the website.
