Who’s ready to pick up the stylus again and get back on the horse? Zynga has just launched Draw Something 2; a sequel to the game that once had 50 million people around the world drawing and guessing.
Like Pokemon, Pogs, Yoyos and Yu-Gi-Oh! the craze of Draw Something faded out as new apps came along. However, Zynga hopes that a brand new game will reinvigorate the minds of mobile gamers and bring Draw Something back to the fore.
So what’s new in Draw Something 2? Well, the overall look has received a polish and as such the whole thing looks much slicker. The main difference and perhaps selling point is the addition of 5,000 brand new words to draw, which should eliminate that all too frequent occurrence from the original where you’d often be drawing things you’ve drawn several times before.
Zynga has overhauled the whole drawing aspect of the game, giving you more tools to get creative with when scrawling on the screen of your iPhone or iPad. You’ll also be able to save your finest pieces of art to a gallery within the app to show off later, which is a nice touch.
Achievements have been brought in to encourage gamers to draw more, with various trophies and rewards ready to be given out as you play through the game.
The original Draw Something game took off early last year with 50 million downloads within a matter of a few months. The game was bought by Zynga, the games company behind titles like Farmville, for a huge $180 million. Since then we’ve heard rumours of a Draw Something TV show, but nothing else until today.
Available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch now, Draw Something can be found in the App Store for £1.99, or alternatively there’s a free version which contains ads.
Has the Draw Something fad been and gone, or will you be jumping in to the new app?
