Angry Birds creator Rovio has introduced a brand new cross platform syncing system that will allow gamers on any platform to sync up their game progress and continue on with where they left off on any platform they choose.
The system will be called Rovio Accounts and the company will be rolling the service out globally across all of its games gradually. The first game will be the new tie-in game for the DreamWorks animated movie “The Croods” and then the system will be released for Angry Birds in Finland and Poland.
Following on from those releases, Rovio will then be operating a worldwide rollout of the Accounts system but this will be happening gradually.
In the statement from Rovio’s blog, the company states:
“Our fans have been asking for a way to play their game on different phones or tablets without losing their progress when changing the device. This is exactly what Rovio Account lets you do!”
With the sheer number of platforms available to play the Angry Birds games being quite staggering it seems like a good (if not a bit late) move by Rovio, especially as many users who have to upgrade their smartphone or use the games on a secondary device have to start again from scratch at the moment.
