Google to launch white Nexus 4 with Android 4.3 on Play Store June 10

  • by

Two things we thought would appear at Google I/O yet didn’t will be arriving on June 10th, according to Android and Me. Both the fabled white Nexus 4 and Android 4.3 will be hit the Google Play Store early next month, at long last.

Google broke tradition at this year’s I/O by not revealing a new version of Android when the whole world was expecting an upgrade. Android 4.3 ‘Jelly Bean’ is expected to be the next version, but according to new reports it will be a minor upgrade that will ride in on the white Nexus 4.

The glossy white Nexus has been rumoured for a long time now, with several unofficial leaks giving its looks away. Qualcomm recently showed it off more officially at an event in Dubai, giving us the impression that the phone’s launch wasn’t far away.

So far we’re not sure exactly what the Android 4.3 update will entail, although recently the addition of Bluetooth Smart technology was given away by an application by Google on the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) website. This upgrade will help devices use less battery when connected to Bluetooth peripherals and will improve the overall functionality between phones and tablets and the latest Bluetooth accessories.

We’re told that the white Nexus 4 will be priced the same as the black one and will be available through Google’s Play Store SIM-free – that’ll be £279/$299 for the 16GB version. We would imagine that the software update will roll out to other Nexus devices straight away and then to other phones and tablets later on in the year.
