Nintendo has revealed that the previously announced Zelda: A Link To The Past 2 has now been officially renamed as Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. This was announced via the Nintendo Direct E3 video cast where the developer announced a host of games that will be coming to the Nintendo Wii U and the 3DS consoles.
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was originally announced last month in May’s Nintendo Direct but it was announced under the guise of ‘A link to the Past 2‘. It features innovative game play that will allow Link to turn himself into a wall-based image to traverse the terrain.
The name is thought to hint at towards a mystical dark world which Link will visit in the game.
The game will be a classic top-down view of Hyrule in an adventure/puzzle format. The game will be based in the same world as ‘A Link to the Past’ which nostalgic gamers will remember fondly from the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) back in 1992.
The title change will see Zelda move away from its first official sequel back to more of a standard naming structure for the franchise.
