More images of Apple’s supposed iPhone Lite have appeared online, showing off the now much rumoured budget iPhone. This time some cheaper looking plastic covers have appeared for what is meant to be a budget friendly Apple iPhone that will be coming later n this summer.
French website Nowhereelse posted some images online of what it claims is a group of multicoloured budget iPhone cases which back up claims that Apple is working on a plastic cheaper iPhone.
The images are apparently leaked form a Chinese casing maker who is working on the new iPhone and other than some Apple logos (which can be easily added) there is no real sign that this could be official. However, the rumours have been mounting up and all point towards a cheaper iPhone, which would be the first of its kind from Apple.
The colourings of the leaked cases do match up with the current line-up of colourful Apple iPod Touch devices, which adds fuel to the realness and 9to5Mac has even offered a comparison image to show this off.
The plastic iPhone, or ‘iPhone Lite’ as it has also been dubbed, is reported to be an affordable handset that would possibly retail for under £300.
Apple is notoriously secret about its handsets, especially when it’s a new line, but on the other hand there are many leaks and claims of new Apple products on a daily basis so the images could well be another fake.
Samsung, Nokia and Sony all have good sales in the budget/mid-range market for smartphones so a budget iPhone alternative has been something people have been speculating for a few years. Apple however is always been keen to use older handset as affordable alternatives to their top of the line iPhone models.
Can’t afford a iPhone 5? Fine, get the 4s… etc.
As we said, this could all be a big fake, but part of the fun is the guesswork.
