HTC’s long-rumoured and much leaked One Max Android handset has suffered an apparent official press shot leak today from serial leaker @evleaks who posted the picture online, stating it was the incoming 5.9-inch Android running smartphone.
However, HTC itself has been quick to quash rumours with Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon posting a comment over on Engadget suggesting that the leak was all a big phoney.
In his comment he stated: “Fake. @evleaks is way off his game,” but as is the internet, this was quickly burned down by fellow commenters who are calling this a shoddy cover-up by HTC.
@Evleaks has a very reliable history with releasing leaked images and information about smartphones way ahead of their official launches – the account is very rarely wrong. Add this to the leaked handset lists, specifications and other pre-production images for the HTC One Max it’s getting hard for HTC to keep denying the handset’s existence.
The HTC T6 (as it’s codenamed) or One Max is looking like a bigger brother to the HTC One that will pit its wits against Samsung’s Note range of smartphones and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra when that launches. The One Max is said to sport a 5.9-inch 1080p display and a HTC One-trumping 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor.
Rumours suggest that it will also sport the latest Android OS, version 4.3 Jelly Bean, and will come with 2GB RAM and 16GB of memory with a micro SD memory card expansion slot. There is also a camera featuring HTC’s UltraPixel sensor, support for optical anti-shake and a 2.1 megapixel front camera.
The handsets looks like the HTC One and to some extent the smaller HTC One Mini, so we hope the One Max is due to arrive soon. With the IFA Event in Berlin starting in September we are expecting a host of new handsets from HTC, Samsung and Nokia.
